MANILA - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Saturday reminded barbershops and salons to adhere to the health and safety procotols when they gradually reopen business on Sunday.

“Bago sila magbukas, required natin na sundin nila ang ating health protocols na inisyu natin 2 weeks ago para makapag-prepare sila sa pagbubukas,” said DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez.

(Before the they open, they are required to follow the protocols we issued two weeks ago for them to prepare for the reopening.)

Lopez said protocols include using sanitation equipment such as acrylic dividers, sterilizers, among others.

Barbershops and salons are also only allowed to operate at 30 percent capacity, he said.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 response approved the gradual reopening of barbershops and salons in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ).

In areas under modified GCQ, barbershops and salons are allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity.

For restaurants, Lopez said 50 percent dine-in capacity is allowed in areas under modified GCQ.

“Marami na rin ’yan, over 60 provinces and cities modified GCQ na sila and therefore allowed na rin itong mga dine-in,” he said.

“ ’Yung mahigpit na guidelines d’yan ’yung sa pag-enter pa lang ng establishment meron din silang temperature scanning, kung outdoor ito may foot bath pa, tapos ’yung mga cashier usually may acrylic divider o kaya enough protection ’yung cashier.”

(More than 60 provinces and cities are under modified GCQ and, therefore, dine-in operations are allowed. Once people enter the establishment, there will be temperature scanning and if it’s outdoor there should be a foot bath. And there should be acrylic dividers or enough protection for cashiers.)

Lopez said that as much as possible customers are encouraged to pay via online options to prevent the spread of the virus.

“Kung cash naman pwede rin pero ilalagay sa tray, hindi direcho iaabot,” he said.

(For cash payment, the money should be placed on a tray and not directly handed to the cashier.)

Also, restaurants that will open dine-in services must ensure that social distancing is observed.

“ ’Yung may table and chairs na hindi ipagagamit para may enough space sa pagitan ng 2 customers,” Lopez said.

“In some cases, para mas maraming occupancy, makaya ’yung 50 percent, maglalagay din ng divider bawat table kung saan kinakailangan para, let’s say, gusto nilang masagad ’yung 50 percent na allowed, gagawin din nila ’yun.”

(There should be enough space between 2 customers.)
