MANILA - The Philippines is looking to import oil from countries outside of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the Department of Energy (DOE) said Sunday.

DOE Undersecretary Wimpy Fuentebella said state-owned PNOC Exploration Corporation has been tasked to look into implementation and establishment of a strategic petroleum reserve.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Saturday said the Philippines is looking for an oil supplier outside of OPEC, including Russia.
