BORACAY ISLAND - Eleven Chinese and Korean business establishments were ordered closed on Tuesday by the island's Interagency Task Force for operating without government permits and clearances.

The restaurants, convenience stores, hostels and souvenir shops were found to be operating either without a mayor's permit, or had incomplete local government and Bureau of Fire Protection requirements.

The establishments ordered shut were:

1. Bella's Bar and Restaurant
2. Great Wall Inn and Restaurant
3. Old Captain Cuisine
4. Ken Minimart
5. Ken St.
6. Island Staff Restaurant
7. Coco Spa
8. Kim Ji Man
9. W Hostel Boracay Dragon
10. VIP Souvenir Shop
11. YH World Network Service Inc.

According to Boracay Interagency Rehabilitation Group General Manager Natividad Bernardino, more establishments could be closed for failure to comply with regulations.

The affected establishments refused to give their side, saying their owners were not present when the closure orders were served.

Establishments that employ foreigners were also reminded to hire only those with valid work permits and visas.
