MANILA, Philippines - IBM is expanding its operations in the Philippines, with a eye on Naga City in the Bicol region as its next growth location.
In a statement, IBM said its business process outsourcing unit, Global Process Services (GPS), will set up a facility in Naga City.
"The expansion in Naga affirms IBM’s continued commitment to help develop talent in next wave cities in the Philippines. This is consistent with our vision to make IBM an essential innovation and technology partner that will enable the country’s expansion and transformation through IBM’s Smarter Planet agenda," IBM Philippines President and Country General Manager Mariels Almeda Winhoffer, said.
Under an agreement with Naga City, IBM will deliver its "next generation" business process solutions to clients in human resources, finance and accounting, and supply chain management among others.
IBM said Naga's strong pool of talent made it an attractive location.
"By locating our global operations in emerging growth cities such as Naga City, IBM is able to bring world-class career opportunities closer to more Filipinos and enhance the country’s competitiveness in the continuously thriving business process outsourcing industry," said Global Process Services Delivery Country Leader Cassandra Soto.
IBM Global Process Services currently operates in Quezon City, Makati City and Pasig City. It aims to bring to Naga City the same business process solutions expertise and wide global reach it has developed in these locations over the years.
