MANILA - The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is set to inaugurate a new airport in the booming tourist town of San Vicente, Palawan on Thursday May 10.
The DOTr said the new airport aims to provide more flights to Palawan and help boost the country’s first "Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone."
San Vicente is home to the country's longest stretch of white beach, spanning 14 kilometers, and remains still relatively unspoiled compared to other tourist spots.
After the inauguration, the San Vicente airport will start to cater to commercial flights, the DOTr said.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez are expected to lead the inauguration rites on Thursday.
