MANILA - PLDT Inc said Friday it asked the Court of Appeals to review a labor department decision ordering the company to grant regular status to thousands of workers.
The company said portions of the decision were "inconsistent" with the law, jurisprudence and evidence submitted to the labor secretary.
A petition for certiorari was filed with the appelate court last Wednesday, a day after Labor Day.
Aside from PLDT, the labor department also directed Jollibee to regularize thousands of workers.
President Rodrigo Duterte this week issued an executive order to stop "endo" or the hiring of workers in 5-month-long cycles to avoid granting them regular status that is due on the sixth month of employment.
