MANILA - The Philippine Airlines (PAL) will be flying directly from Manila to New York starting October this year, its spokesperson said Friday.
The flag carrier will launch flights to the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York starting October 28, said PAL spokesperson Maria Cielo Villaluna.
“We are no longer just a Manila-centric airline,” said PAL President Jaime Bautista during a recent press briefing in Davao City.
“Our new aircraft and our new hubs are a winning combination that will help expand our market reach both domestically and worldwide," he added.
Aside from New York, the airline will also mount flights from Manila to New Delhi and Mumbai in India, and to Sapporo in Japan before the year ends.
Earlier this year, PAL was certified as the country's first 4-star airline.
The flag carrier joined 42 other 4-star airlines on the list of Skytrax, a London-based international air transport rating organization.
