MANILA - The government will establish this year an official contact point for cybersecurity matters, an official of the Department of Information and Communication Technology said Wednesday.
A "small" budget has been allocated for the "situational awareness platform," DICT Asec. Allan Cabanlong said during a Maybank-sponsored cybersecurity forum.
"We need to cooperate, share threats information, share threat activities that we see in our network," he said.
Partnerships with Malaysia and other ASEAN countries are in place to strengthen intelligence-sharing, Cabanlong said.
Safeguarding government infrastructure from online threats such as hacking is part of protecting its sovereignty, he said.
