MANILA - The Social Security System (SSS) said on Wednesday it is allotting P111.6 million pesos for emergency loans to its members affected by the closure of Boracay island.
SSS President and CEO Emmanuel F. Dooc said the government
shutdown of Boracay affected around 11,000 pension fund members.
“At times like this, we would like to show our dear members that the SSS is there whenever they needed help the most,” Dooc said.
Qualified SSS members may borrow P1,000 to P16,000, payable in 32 months, the pension fund said.
Displaced workers who want to avail of the loan may download the application form from the SSS website, or visit the SSS office at the Barangay Hall in Manoc-Manoc, Aklan or the SSS booth in the government's One-Stop Shop at the Caticlan Jetty Port in Malay, Aklan.
SSS members in Boracay can apply for emergency loans from May 2 to October 31, 2018.
