MANILA - The Eva Macapagal Terminal quarantine facility at Manila's Pier 15 is now at almost full capacity, the government agency overseeing its operation said Thursday.

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said that the facility, which has 211 beds, now has 203 patients.

A P100-million peso donation from the Lopez Group funded the retrofitting of the terminal into a facility meant to shelter returning overseas Filipino workers and seafarers who need to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

The two ships from 2GO which were also turned into quarantine facilities meanwhile house a total of 356 patients, Santiago said.

The PPA also said that there is no longer any congestion in Manila's main port.

Philippine Ports Authority chief Jay Santiago said that after the congestion experienced during the first week of the Luzon lockdown, operations at the port returned to normal.
