MANILA - AirAsia on Saturday said it was cancelling all domestic and international flights in the Philippines in accordance with the Philippine government's directive extending the enhanced community quarantine period in Metro Manila and several other areas.
The company said affected travelers will be notified via email or SMS and that it "strongly encourages" guests that they update their contact details on the AirAsia website to ensure that they receive timely notifications.
"Guests with existing flight bookings made on or before 24 April 2020 with a departure date between 23 March and 30 June 2020 will now be able to select from a range of extended flexibility options for future travel," the Southeast Asian budget carrier said in a statement.
These options include getting unlimited flight change or being allowed to credit the value of the booking for future flights, which can be redeemed in 365 calendar days or one year.
"Guests whose travel plans are affected by restrictions or cancellations are advised to refer to the COVID-19 Guide. For bookings made through travel agents including online travel agents, refund requests are to be made via the respective travel agents," the company added.
AirAsia said it is complying with advice and regulations from the local government, civil aviation authorities, global and local health agencies, including the World Health Organization.
