MANILA - Petron said Thursday it has temporarily suspended operations at its refinery in Limay, Bataan following the strong earthquake in Luzon earlier this week.
The earthquake triggered the protective tripping of the refinery’s power source, followed by the flaring of gases, Petron told the stock exchange.
Petron said it had ample inventory and that the shutdown would not affect operations and finances.
After the quake struck on Monday Petron said the refinery was not hit by fire.
Petron said that at the time of the emergency shutdown, the refinery was preparing for a "total plant turnaround" starting May 1 for scheduled maintenance activities.
