MANILA - The Clark International Airport is scheduled to reopen Wednesday following the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that hit Luzon, its president said Tuesday.

CIAC President Jaime Melo said the Clark airport will resume local and international flight operations on Wednesday afternoon, adding that its terminal and tower are "structurally sound."

"Clark airport is business as usual, from counters to manifest to boarding gates," he said in a statement.

Melo said power, flight information systems and CCTVs have been "fully restored," and clearing operations and repairs have begun inside its pre-departure area after a portion of the ceiling collapsed.

The airport CEO reminded the public to coordinate with airlines for confirmation of their flight schedules at Clark.

Airlines earlier canceled flights to and from Clark on Tuesday and Wednesday as the facility undergoes repairs.
