MANILA - Employers prefer graduates from the state-run Polytechnic University of the Philippines due to their positive work ethic, according to a survey released by a recruitment portal on Wednesday.
"The report pointed out that employers believe in the school's reputation of producing quality graduates," Jobstreet.com Philippines country manager Philip Gioca said.
Graduates of the University of the Philippines System placed second, followed by Ateneo de Manila University, based on a Jobstreet poll of 503 employers in 2017.
PUP was also the top choice of employers in a similar survey in 2015 before being unseated by UP in 2016.
University of Santo Tomas placed fourth followed by Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Far Eastern University, De La Salle University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, University of San Carlos, University of Cebu and University of the East.
Not since 2014 have universities outside Metro Manila made it to the top 10. University of San Carlos and the University of Cebu are both located in the Visayas.
Hiring preference also varied in terms of industries, the survey revealed. The business process outsourcing industry hired fresh graduates from PUP, UP and UST in 2017.
The IT sector's top school choices in 2017 were DLSU and PUP, while in the banking sector, UST, PUP and Ateneo graduates were the most sought after.
