MANILA – The Philippine capital's two water distributors said on Wednesday that they welcome a review of their concession agreements after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered a review of all government deals.
"We welcome any review of our obligations under this agreement as has been undertaken by our regulator since the start of the concession," Maynilad Water Services said in a statement.
Manila Water said it was "always open" to dialogue with the government "to find ways to deal with the challenge of ensuring sustainable water security solutions."
Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday ordered the Solicitor General and the Department of Justice to review "all contracts" entered by the government.
The order came as Manila Water sought to solve a supply shortage affecting its concession zone, spanning eastern Metro Manila.
