MANILA – PLDT Inc said Thursday it would deploy smartphones with “push-to-talk” feature for faster communication between the Department of Health and COVID-19 hospitals.

PLDT also worked with several public hospitals to launch COVID-19 hotlines, said its public affairs head, Mon Isberto.

“Sa pamamagitan nito, mas mabilis ang communication sa pagitan ng DOH at COVID-19 hospitals at sa loob mismo ng mga COVID hospitals,” Isberto said.

(With this, communications between the DOH and COVID-19 facilities will be faster, as well as within the hospitals)

The minimum speed for Fiber users was raised to 25 mbps, he said.

Globe Telecom earlier donated cellphones with unlimited call and text to select hospitals.

Both Globe Telecom and PLDT earlier assured the public of continued service during the Luzon lockdown where millions were forced to stay and work from home. It is scheduled to end on April 12.
