MANILA - Meralco subscribers will pay for the electricity they consumed during the Luzon lockdown once bills are adjusted and the situation normalizes, the power distributor said Thursday.
Electricity bills for the period of March 17 to April 14 will be based on the average for the last 3 months and the difference will be computed in succeeding bills after the lockdown, said Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga.
Physical meter reading was suspended during the Luzon-wide lockdown for the safety of Meralco employees and the public.
"Once we have a normal situation, ano man ang kulang o sobra sa normal na kunsumo ay i-aadjust sa susunod na billing cycle. Pagkatapos ng adjustments ang inyong tamang consumo lang ang inyong babayaran," Zaldarriaga said.
(Whatever is excess or lacking in usage, we will adjust in the next billing cycle. After the adjustments, you will only pay for the amount you consumed)
Meralco earlier assured the public that it would "keep the lights on" during the lockdown which is expected to end on April. 12.
