Power grid operator NGCP pledges P1 billion for COVID-19 fight

MANILA - The National Grid Corp of the Philippines on Monday said it would donate P1 billion to support the country's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will include P500 million worth of goods and medical equipment and P500 million in cash.

The donation was approved by NGCP's major stockholders Henry Sy Jr, Robert Coyiuto Jr and the State Grid Corp of China, it said.

The Philippines' largest conglomerates also pledged and donated millions in cash and in kind to support the fight against COVID-19.

Duterte had placed the entire island of Luzon under lockdown to stop the spread of the disease that has killed nearly 34,000 worldwide as of Monday.
