ERC gets new commissioner

MANILA, Philippines - The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is getting a new commissioner.

Geronimo D. Sta. Ana, a Cebu-based CPA and former governor of the Board of Investments, was appointed by Malacanang to the ERC.

The 75-year-old was a BOI governor representing the private sector until June 2014. He was also a BOI governor from 2001 to early 2004.

Sta. Ana was the Cebu partner of C.L. Manabat & Co. (now Navarro Amper & Co), and is now consultant to the company. Prior to joining CLMC, he was chairman of Sta. Ana, Rivera & Co., an auditing firm in Cebu.

He was City Administrator of the City of Cebu from November 1983 to March 1986.

Sta. Ana graduated cum laude at the De La Salle College with a BS degree in Commerce, and has an MBA from the University of the Philippines.

He placed 10th in the CPA board examination.
