MANILA – Universal Robina Corp on Monday said its flour business grew 15 percent in 2018 and is also expected to see double-digit growth this year.
URC recently inaugurated a P1-billion mill in Davao City, which houses URC’s flour and feed milling operations and Robina Farms, among others, said president and CEO Irwin Lee.
With the Davao mill, URC now produces 2,150 metric tons of flour per day.
“We’re operating at capacity so we’re adding capacity to our mills. So the Davao mill expansion is an important one. It allows us to serve Mindanao area as well as importing,” Lee told ANC.
“Flour milling is important operation for us as it supplies our bakery, biscuits, crackers and we also have very important customers that buy flour directly from us,” he added.
Lee said URC has a “very strong” agro-industrial commodities division. It is also engaged in other food-related businesses including packed goods and beverages.
