MANILA – Employees are less afraid to fail when their workplace promotes the culture of equality, according to a survey by outsourcing firm Accenture.

A total of 89 percent of Filipinos are less afraid to fail in the "most equal" environments compared to 49 percent in "less equal" setups, Accenture’s "Getting to Equal 2019" survey said.

"It makes a difference when you have encouraging an environment. Employees are experimenting, they’re trying out new things and they’re encouraged to voice our their ideas,” Accenture Philippines Senior managing director Ambe Tierro told ANC.

Innovation and productivity also increase if companies have bold leadership, an empowering environment and a comprehensive action plan to promote equality such as flexible work arrangements, she said.

Increasing the innovation mindset of all countries could add $8 trillion to the global gross domestic product in 10 years, Tierro said.
