MANILA - Meralco on Friday said it would suspend physical meter reading and deliveries of printed bills during the COVID-19 lockdown which is in effect until April 12.
Physical reading of meters from March 17 to April 14 will be suspended. Billing will be estimated based on average consumption in the past 3 months in accordance with guidelines from the Energy Regulatory Board (ERC), Meralco said.
"Due to the enhanced community quarantine, Meralco is holding off on physical meter reading and bill deliveries," Meralco said.
All establishments were ordered shut except for essential services while millions were asked to stay at home to help slowdown the spread of the disease.
Consumers may call the Meralco hotline at 16211 or reach out through its social media pages for any concerns, it said.
