MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said it will be strict about the use of e-filing and e-forms, penalizing taxpayers who don't comply when they file their forms next month.
The BIR says it will slap taxpayers who don't comply with a fine of P1,000 per return, plus a 25 percent penalty.
The BIR started rolling out e-filing, which applies to big taxpayers for now, and e-forms two years ago.
Thirty-six BIR forms are covered, including those for salaried workers and self-employed individuals.
Taxpayers fill these out online, at home or in the BIR, and the calculations are made automatically. Taxpayers then print these out for manual submission.
