MANILA - The Philippines is missing out on tourism opportunities despite being a "well-known" travel destination because of its "unorganized" promotion strategy, the head of a European trade group said on Friday.
Guenter Taus, the chair of the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines said there seem to be a disconnect when it comes promoting the country.
"There’s really nobody we can call on to do something special. Within the Philippines, we seem to be very unorganized,” Taus told ANC.
Taus, who is currently visiting a tourism exhibition in Europe, said the Philippines can spend more on promoting its travel-worthy destinations.
"It’s amazing to see what other countries can do. Thailand had a whole hall, at least 150 tour operator and resorts there, while we [PH] have only 6 in our booths," he said.
"We still don’t get the message across and all those things we can offer and that’s what we’re missing," he added.
