MANILA - Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) assistant general manager Allen Capuyan resigned on Wednesday after he was accused of accepting grease money from suspected smugglers.

Quitting his post was a career move, Capuyan said in his resignation letter addressed to MIAA general manager Ed Monreal. The MIAA general manager for intelligence and access control, Arnulfo Junio, will replace Capuyan, the agency said Wednesday afternoon.

Capuyan filed a leave of absence in August last year after customs whistleblower Mark Taguba claimed during a Senate investigation that the MIAA official gave him tariff codes that afforded his shipments minimal inspection.
