MANILA - Building sustainable facilities can help companies save on energy costs while preserving the environment, the International Finance Corp said.

This proved true for Hyundai Logistics Center, which saved up to 70 percent on its electricity bill by complying with the Green Building Code and Edge standards.

"The principle of sustainability is providing for the needs of the present without depriving the future of the same resources," said Ramon Aguilos, general manager of RDA Engineering Consultants.

The IFC and the Department of Public Works and Highways launched Edge to help buildings save on energy costs.
