MANILA - Critical offices of the Philippine finance ministry will operate in alternate locations to ensure continued service while the agency's Manila headquarters is closed for disinfection against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), it said Thursday.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez ordered the activation of an emergency working arrangement that will allow different groups of the agency to temporarily hold office with skeletal forces in different areas.
“Under these arrangements, the DOF Building is abandoned and DOF holds office in alternate offices,” said Dominguez, who has gone on self-quarantine after being exposed to a person who later tested positive for the new strain of virus.
Workers who will not be assigned in alternate offices will work from their homes, the department said in a statement.
“In view of limited working spaces, only critical employees and critical offices under each Undersecretary shall report for work in alternate offices. The rest will get instructions online and work in their respective homes,” Dominguez said.
Dominguez also ordered the disinfection of DOF-attached agencies.
Other officials including Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor Benjamin Diokno, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade are also under self-quarantine.
The COVID-19 was already declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization as the number of people infected swelled to over 126,000 in over 100 countries.
