MANILA – Philippine Airlines Inc. (PAL) has signed a partnership with Lufthansa Technik Philippines Inc. for the maintenance of its fleet of Airbus aircraft for two years.
Under the partnership, PAL will be utilizing the services of Lufthansa Technik to handle heavy maintenance visits for its Airbus A320, A321, A330, and A340.
The partnership agreement was signed by PAL chairman Lucio Tan and PAL president and chief operating officer Jaime Bautista; and Lufthansa Technik president and chief executive officer Burkhard Andrichand and vice president and chief financial officer Edison Que.
In 2000, Lufthansa Technik AG and MacroAsia Corp. merged to form Lufthansa Technik Philippines.
Lufthansa Technik is also PAL’s maintenance service provider for its fleet of Boeing aircraft.
PAL is currently operating a fleet of 73 aircraft. The airline serviced about 12 million international and domestic passengers in 2014.
