MANILA - The MRT is finishing tests on the third train purchased from China's Dalian Locomotive and expects to permanently deploy 2 more this month.
The third Dalian train is undergoing 150 hours of tests with passengers aboard to determine its reliability, availability, maintainability and safety. It earlier completed commissioning tests, including a 1,000-kilometer run, the MRT said.
The Dalian trains need to pass an evaluation by the Philippine National Railways before they can be deployed permanently, the MRT said.
The Dalian trains were purchased by the government in 2015, but issues with their signaling system as well as concerns over their weight delayed their deployment. - Report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
