MANILA - Maynilad on Thursday said it is laying out measures to mitigate the effects of reduced water supply from Angat Dam with demand expected to rise further in the summer months.
The water concessionaire said it is mounting cloud-seeding operations, and deploying modular water treatment plants that will draw water from small rivers in Cavite, aside from optimizing its two water treatment facilities in Muntinlupa, and reactivating several deep wells.
“We expect water consumption to increase this summer, so we have laid out this mitigation plan since last year so we can cushion the impact of the reduced raw water allocation on our customers,” said Maynilad COO Randolph Estrellado.
Maynilad said it is also aiming to reduce water leaks through pipe replacement and repair activities.
The water distributor said authorities have kept its water allocation at 42 cubic meters per second (cms) versus the normal 48 cms with water level in Angat expected to dip further.
