MANILA - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines on Monday placed Luzon on the second highest alert due to low reserves, power distributor Meralco said.
The yellow alert was in force from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and again took effect from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the country's largest power utility said on Twitter.
The unexpected shutdown or limited generation of some plants led to low reserves, with peak demand projected at 9,018 megawatts against available capacity of 9,971 megawatts.
