MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte's economic team on Wednesday asked the Commission on Elections to exempt some infrastructure projects from a poll season construction ban.

The economic managers said in a letter to the Comelec that the President's P8 trillion "Build, Build, Build" should have "timely implementation."

Finance Sec. Carlos Dominguez, Budget Sec. Benjamin Diokno and Socioeconomic Planning Sec. Ernesto Pernia signed the letter dated Feb. 18, which listed 145 projects submitted to the Department of Budget and Management, and 603 projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Under COMELEC Resolution No. 10429, disbursement of funds for construction of public works is prohibited from March 29 to May 12, 2019.

"The exemption will facilitate implementation and ensure that there are no delays and disruption of these national priority projects," the economic managers said.
