MANILA -- Traffic jams and ubiquitous smartphones helped food and grocery delivery platform honestbee grow by "triple digits," its Philippine head said Monday.
At the height of the gridlocks in the fourth quarter, consumers found that having groceries delivered was more cost effective since they save on gas and parking fees, said honestbee Managing Director Crystal Gonzalez.
"It's definitely more convenient to pretty much have everything delivered," Gonzalez told ANC's Market Edge.
Honestbee now leads 8 Southeast Asian countries where it has operations, from seventh place when it opened in Manila, Gonzalez said.
The service plans to "saturate" its current markets while looking to other urban areas for expansion, she said.
