Filipinos urged to sharpen English proficiency for 'AI age'

MANILA – Filipinos need to sharpen their English proficiency to be able to adapt to the jobs of the future, an education advocate said Friday.

English is the language of most papers on cutting edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, said Government-Academe Industry Network director Rex Wallen Tan.

"People have to prepare for the AI age, we really have to be good at our foundation," Tan said.

Using the language more often and increasing consumption of various media formats in English such as TV shows and books can help improve proficiency in the language, he said.
