More than 700 Filipinos were left jobless as US-based Federal Express' last flight took off from the Subic Bay International Airport (SBIA) early Friday, marking the end of its 13 years of operation in the country.

ABS-CBN's "Umagang Kay Ganda" reported that the last FedEx flight left SBIA before 5 a.m.

FedEx, the world's largest air-cargo shipper, vacated its 300,000-square foot facility at the Subic free port to relocate its Asia-Pacific hub operations to Guangzhou, China.

FedEx was operating in the Philippines since May 1995. The company's lease contract in Subic was supposed to expire in 2010 but it opted to end the contract earlier.

The new Guangzhou hub will be FedEx's largest outside the US. It will connect 24 major cities in more than 220 countries in the region where FedEx has had operations.
