MANILA - Owners of small structures can do their part in helping preserve the environment by voluntarily submitting to standards set by the International Finance Corp, a sister organization of the World Bank.

Available online, Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies or EDGE is for structures that have less than 10,000 square meters in gross floor area.

Commercial and residential buildings that comply with EDGE are deemed "environment-friendly and investment-worthy," said Maria Teresita Lacerna, IFC Philippines green building country lead.

For structures that exceed 10,000 square meters, the IFC helped the Philippines establish a green building code.
