MANILA - Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr. was back at the central bank on Monday after taking a medical leave for more than 2 weeks.
Espenilla went on leave last Jan. 4 and was supposed to return to work on Jan. 21.
The central bank chief, who underwent treatment for tongue cancer, however, extended his leave.
Espenilla however said he still needs to limit public contact and appearances for medical reasons.
"I will still be on intermittent leave based on treatment schedule," Espenilla said.
In February 2018, Espenilla confirmed that he had a bout with tongue cancer and was expecting a full recovery.
In September, he went on leave, which was extended, while he underwent further treatment.
