MANILA - Korean electronics firm LG said Wednesday it was providing free laundry service to people affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano in several areas in the Cavite and Batangas provinces. 

LG Philippines said it sent 10 heavy duty washing machines to evacuation centers. The free laundry service was launched on Tuesday at the Alfonso Central School and will remain there up to Wednesday. 

On Thursday, the free laundry service will move to the Kaylaway National High School in Nasugbu, Batangas; and on Friday, it will move to the Department of Health's Rehab Center in Tagaytay City, both of which are being used as evacuation centers., LG said.

"We sincerely hope that the worst is over for the Taal community, but rest assured that LG will always be there to help in any way we can,” said LG Philippines managing director Inkwun Heo. 

The company said it also provided free physical and optical checkups for the evacuees.
