MANILA - PLDT Inc on Tuesday said it was open to leasing facilities from tower companies to expand coverage and to serve consumers' growing usage of data.
Several tower companies have approached PLDT to "explore discussions" on possible lease of new towers, the telecommunications firm told the stock exchange.
"We would like to confirm that PLDT has always maintained the position that it is open to leasing tower space from tower companies, subject to the terms and conditions of the prospective lease," the telecommunication player said.
PLDT said it would continue to invest in building its network while evaluating how it could work with tower companies.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) earlier said it would sign agreements with at least 6 telco-tower builders this month to speed up the rollout of new cell sites across the country.
