MANILA - Globe Telecom said Monday it would install WiFi hotspots in 14 Shell gasoline stations along major roads under a partnership with the petroleum company.
The GoWiFi facilities inside Shell stations are part of Globe's efforts to expand its network coverage, Globe said in a statement.
"This also supports our commitment in continuing to build a robust and reliable network for our customers’ expanding data needs,” Globe president Ernest Cu said.
Pilipinas Shell president Cesar Romero said: We believe providing better quality connectivity is a vital component of progress."
Shell is also in discussions with Globe unit GCash to offer cashless payments in its stores, according to the statement.
Globe has set aside $850 million for capital expenditures this year as it prepares for the entry of a third player in the telecommunications space.
