MANILA—The two major telecommunications firms will turn off mobile services in some parts of Kalibo, Aklan, and nearby areas for the Ati-Atihan Festival early Sunday.
Globe Telecom and Smart Communications Inc. said this was in compliance with a National Telecommunications Commission directive.
Globe said it would temporarily shut off its mobile services, Globe at Home LTE and prepaid WiFi signal starting 6 a.m., while mobile phone services of Smart, TNT and Sun will not be available starting early Sunday.
"To avoid inconvenience, we suggest that you register to a promo with a longer validity," Globe said.
Services will be restored the NTC's go signal, the two telcos said.
