MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte ordered his Cabinet secretaries Tuesday to finish all of the projects they started until 2022, saying he does not want to leave any unfinished business when he steps down.

The President said Cabinet members planning to take on a new venture should shelve their ideas if the project is not doable in the next 2 years.

“All projects must be finished during my term. Do not dream of any... Malaking ano na di matapos. Ayaw ko mag-iwan ng project na hindi tapos,” he said during a situation briefing on the government’s disaster response to the erupting Taal Volcano in Batangas.

(I don’t want to leave any unfinished business.)

“Do not start projects that you cannot finish beyond 2022,” he added.

The government last year released a revised list of infrastructure projects under the Duterte administration's “Build, Build, Build” program.

The new list is now composed of 100 projects instead of 75 big-ticket initiatives.

Last year, economic managers were questioned by senators over delays in the infrastructure push, as only 9 out of the original 75 flagship projects were actually undergoing construction, and only 2 projects had been finished.
