MANILA - More Filipinos are working from home to take advantage of improving internet speeds and avoid getting stuck in traffic jams, according to a jobs recruitment website.

Freelancer.com expects its 26 million users to double in the coming years as more people ditch their office-based jobs, said the platform's regional director for engineering, Yves Sy.

"We've been hitting tremendous milestones, the Internet is getting faster, so the more people go online, the more people will be looking for work online," Sy told ANC's Early Edition.

Filipinos are preferred by European and American companies and the most sought after jobs are web design and data entry, Sy said.

Sy said Filipino employers prefer local as well as Indian talent. Up to 66 percent of the Freelancer.com community are jobseekers, he said.

"It allows Filipinos to be able to find work in a more global scale, there are a lot of opportunities for everybody, you don't have to be limited locally," he said.
