A seamless end-to-end travel experience is many a vacationer’s dream—where one’s vacation has been programmed from the time the traveler steps out of his home until he or she makes it back. This is what airline company airasia hopes to provide via their newly introduced Super App—a one-stop-shop travel and lifestyle app that makes it easy to book flights, hotels, travel packages, and activities, not to mention avail of duty-free products and other travel and lifestyle deals.
The app was launched recently at the Sandugo Festival in Bohol and Super App Philippines’ managing director, Ray Berja, told ANCX the new e-commerce platform is a response to a study the company conducted. In it, respondents highlighted their interest in an integrated end-to-end travel experience. Six out of 10 said they were keen on booking packages composed of flights, hotel accommodations, tours and activities. This was followed by a preference for discounted flight and hotel bundles (61%), and discounted food and activities bundles (59%).
The Super App allows users to book flights to more than 3,000 destinations with over 700 airlines to choose from. Since its global launch, the company claims to have partnered with over 200,000 hotels, providing value-for-money deals. Berja shared a previous promo where they offered a 2-night, 3-day stay in Panglao, Bohol for only P13,000. To celebrate the Sandugo Festival, the company also gave away huge discounts on hotel and flight bookings for as low as P1,200 from Manila to Tagbilaran.
Berja said shopping for branded products is also made more convenient via the app’s Travelmall feature. Here, the shopper has the option to get what he or she bought either inflight (upon boarding the aircraft), pick it up at the airport, or have it delivered to his hotel or his home.
Currently, there are about 1000 SKUs available on Super App. The airline company is also working on a partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) so that Philippine-made pasalubong could also be brought thru the app.
Completing the end-to-end experience is the app’s soon-to-arrive ride-hailing, parcel delivery, and food delivery service features. “Hopefully we can get the license from Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for the [airasia ride] because there’s a public clamor to have a seamless public transportation with a better price point and better customer service,” Berja said. The features will come with customer rewards that can be converted to buy tickets and accommodations. “It will be a gamechanger because the other apps don’t offer this,” added the app’s managing director.
Berja said they are currently working on improving the app’s customer experience. He claimed the app now has around 2 million active users in the Philippines after its launch on April 6.
