The people at MUJI probably know something we don’t. In the middle of a pandemic, the Japanese lifestyle brand will be opening its largest store in the Philippines.

Slated to open on first quarter of 2021, the store is actually an expansion of the previous Shangri-La Plaza branch, which closed for renovation September last year. From a size of 400 sqm, it will expand to 1,400 sqm.

The newly expanded MUJI store will have interiors dominated by old wood and metal. With a larger space, the store aims to give a more cozy and open environment where customers can shop more comfortably. Around 4,000 items will be available in the expanded branch including everyday health and beauty essentials, stationery, travel essentials, kitchenware, houseware, furniture, and electronics products, as well as men’s and women’s apparel, children’s wear, innerwear, bags, shoes, and accessories.

As part of its efforts to reduce plastic waste, MUJI Philippines will start to carry reusable water bottles priced at Php 160 each.

In addition, MUJI Shangri-La Plaza will exclusively introduce to the Philippine market some specialty products and services. Among which are MUJI Labo, a unisex clothing line, and consultation services for furniture, storage, and interior coordination, styling coordination, and product recommendations as provided by MUJI advisors. This store will also feature the first MUJI water refilling service. But most importantly, it promises to reintroduce MUJI’s best-selling items at better prices with its price review campaign.
