A look at Tommy Hilfiger’s capsule collection with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport

The American label has been supporting Formula One since the 90s, and has clothed the likes of Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine. This most recent partnership follows along the same vein by collaborating with another champion team.

On the heels of launching their multi-year partnership with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, Tommy Hilfiger has just introduced a capsule collection that celebrates this collaboration. “We take pride in partnering with organizations that are the best in their industries and share our passion to attract and retain the best-in-class teams,” says Tommy Hilfiger Global CEO Daniel Grieder of there long-term deal with the five-time Formula One world champions.

This isn’t the first time the American fashion label has partnered with a sports team. Back in the 90s, the company has sponsored the Lotus Team as well as outfitted the likes of Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine of Ferrari. More recently, they’ve gotten Spanish tennis superstar Rafael Nadal as one of their brand ambassadors.

We are excited to see how Tommy Hilfiger will dress the team this season and to showcase their exciting plans to the fans of Formula One.”

The first TommyXMercedes-Benz Men’s capsule collection blends the fashion house’s classic cool sportswear heritage with the innovative technical expertise of the winning motorsports team. “As a lifelong fan of motorsports, it has been inspiring to join forces with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport to fuse our brands’ shared passion for modern designs and innovation,” says Tommy Hilfiger himself. “The Spring 2019 TommyxMercedes-Benz capsule collection elevates timeless styles with a technical edge for the new generation of speed racing and Tommy Hilfiger fans.” The digital-first campaign features model Andrew Cooper and a vintage Mercedes-Benz 300 SL gullwing creating a mood that is sophisticated and elevated.

The limited line features chinos, bomber jackets, and jeans with functional elements such as climate control finishes and crease-resistant yarn. These, on a red, white and blue color palette highlighted with hints of gray and black. The Hilfiger signature stripe is placed on metal zipper pulls, small trim details and the hood lining, while blue pop linings add an unexpected twist to classic outerwear.
