With the recent release of a collaboration meal between the global pop sensation BTS and the giant fast food-chain McDonald’s, several of the latter’s outlets decorated their stores with purple design elements. The preference for the color continued in the packaging of its “BTS MEAL” which included a 10-piece order of chicken nuggets, two limited edition sauces, medium Coca-cola, and medium fries.
To many fans who religiously follow and support BTS songs and merchandise, the packaging for this limited time collab is something worth keeping. Some fans preserved them inside glass frames while others turned them into art materials or paper objects, just like Raymond Guevarra’s retro toy robot which used the soda cup and the chicken nuggets box from the BTS meal.
Raymond says it’s common for him to use different kinds of materials for his art. “Nung ginawa ko yun parang naisipan ko lang,” he tells ANCX. Raymond is a vintage toy collector. “Kaya yung mga mixed media artworks ko mga toys din ginagamit ko.”
The picture of the robot he posted in his Facebook account, Rymnd Gev, has received a total of 1,500 shares and 3,400 likes as of this writing. The collective Art Toys PH will even be putting Guevarra’s robot up for auction, with a starting price equal to the cost of a BTS meal. To those interested in bidding for the piece, the auction will be held this Thursday at arttoysph.com.
