After four months, Dr. Carol Falcis—the mother of embattled brothers Nicko and Jesus Falcis—has finally opened up about the legal battle that her sons are going through against Kris Aquino.
In a Facebook and Instagram post, Dr. Falcis, an oncologist by profession, claims she used to be a fan of Aquino and her straight-shooting public persona. “I liked your kaartehan, and I thought you were honest. But now I know you’re not!” she says of the multimedia star in her caps-laden social media diatribe.
The two camps have been slinging allegations at each other since late last year, beginning when Aquino bemoaned online the loss of millions from a trusted business associate. This eventually led to a case being filed against Nicko Falcis, who was managing director of her Kris Cojuangco Aquino Productions. Nicko’s younger brother, the lawyer and radio broadcaster Jesus Falcis, shot back via social media and disputed the charges.
“I have kept my silence because I trusted my kids to be capable enough of defending themselves. I was worried and saddened last year when people believed the lies fostered by Kris Aquino on my dear son Nicko,” Dr. Falcis writes. “But the changing sentiments of the majority, including even her once loyal fans, and the messages of love and support of Filipinos in the last few weeks made me cry with tears of joy!”
Dr. Falcis assures their supporters that their family’s belief in her son isn’t misplaced, emphatically asserting Nicko’s innocence. “With your support, he is vindicated!” she writes.
But Dr. Falcis then went back to addressing Aquino directly for the lengthiest part of her post. She denies engaging in a trial by publicity, alleging the actress started the back-and-forth. “If my family is going public, it is only because we have to respond and defend ourselves from your constant lies and especially your death threats,” she says. “Behind the scenes, you tried to bully my family into signing one-sided contracts, using as leverage the fact that you can destroy Nicko’s reputation even without naming him and more so if you name him!”
Dr. Falcis names Lolit Solis as one of Aquino’s “paid minions” who slowly outed her son in a radio interview with Arnold Clavio and a subsequent post on Instagram. She also alleges that the actress’s lawyer Sigfrid Fortun “commanded” them to keep quiet. “And, of course, you threatened to have my son killed! And now you and your lawyers have the gall to say for us to stop posting on social media?” she goes on in her scathing rebuke.
Aquino’s “Kris Life Updates” with entertainment reporter Anna Pingol, uploaded on Aquino’s YouTube channel, was also called out. The matriarch Falcis set the record straight. “I am not and never will be a ‘deeply embarrassed mother’ as you shamelessly claimed,” she says. “That is completely untrue! I never wrote and I never said to you that I was deeply embarrassed.”
Despite these, Dr. Falcis says that she wishes Aquino recovers from the autoimmune disease she claims to have. As a mother, she writes, she wants Aquino to “enjoy life with her sons just as I want to live the rest of my senior life with my kids in peace. I pray she comes to her senses. I have been experiencing anxiety, palpitations, and paranoia about the safety of Nicko ever since her death threats. I am not getting any younger!”
But in the end, she stays within the tone of her epithet. “No sickness can ever justify concocting lies, bullying, and making death threats! I am glad she later admitted in one of her press cons that it was wrong for her to blame my son for her sickness.”
To close, the Mrs. Falcis invoked God and the bible, putting forth a David and Goliath metaphor and subsequently praying that “humility, forgiveness, and reconciliation” will reign.
“Remember the Ten Commandments, ‘Thou shalt not lie.’ You started with lies, we will end it with truths,” she says.
