There are always too many offerings on the Netflix buffet, it’s hard to keep up with their latest movie/series/documentary premieres. Oftentimes it’s easier to just go to TikTok where your viewing repertoire has already been decided for for you. Which is how we ended up finding out about this latest sexy Netflix series called “Sex/Life,” which apparently is currently number one on the streaming platform’s Top 10 list in the Philippines.
The latest TikTok challenge is likely the reason for its present popularity. If you haven’t chanced upon this new video challenge yet, it features a photo of two women seemingly looking at the ceiling. They are smiling. They are giddy. And across their image is a direction that goes something like, Watch Sex/Life on Netflix, episode 3, at 19:50 and record your reaction.
Never wanting to be left out of any trend or latest social media challenge, we turn to Netflix right away, of course, click the Sex/Life poster, search for episode 3, and drag the end of the red line to the specified digits. And there it was, in its full splendiforous glory. We won’t spoil the fun for you. But blink and you will miss it. All we’re saying is it’s long enough to sustain your interest.
“Sex/Life,” at least from the first episode, is about a woman (Sarah Shahi) living the perfect life of wife and mother, until the memories of a past lover (Adam Demos) begin to creep into those quiet moments when she’s feeding her baby. She has a great house, and a fantastic husband (Mike Vogel), but the sex hasn’t been all that exciting—this while her BFF continues to live the single life they were so good at living until Billie, our main protagonist, got sick of being screwed around by the men she was dating.
We’re still not convinced if this is a good series—just as the actor who plays the lover can’t convince himself which accent he’s supposed to use (he’s Australian in real life). There are cheesy parts and soapy cliches in here but if you’re looking for sexy, you’ve come to the right place. It’s probably the hottest thing in the Netflix PH buffet at the moment and could keep you off TikTok for a few hours.
