The Queen City of the South, Cebu City, served as the perfect backdrop for "Limelight," SYKES Philippines' glitzy and glamorous year-end celebration dedicated to its more than 3,000 employees from its two branches in the area.
SYKES currently has a total of seven offices nationwide, including the recently inaugurated 4,757 square meter SYKES Galleria Cebu. The company is the first call center to open an office in the province
“As in previous years, this year’s year-end event is a celebration of our employees. They are the key to the company’s growth and success,” said John Sneed, SYKES Vice President for Area Operations and Shared Services.
True enough, the theme “Limelight” is a direct homage to SYKES employees who are considered as the "superstars" of the company.
SYKES’ celebration in Cebu was highlighted by the performance of popular rock icon Bamboo, who performed some of his hits before the jampacked Waterfront Hotel Cebu.
The Voice Philippines Season 2 contestant Jem Cubil, meanwhile, serenaded the crowd with timeless ballads.
But ultimately, the night belonged to the "SYKESErs." Loud cheers echoed through the venue as various groups graced the stage and performed various Hollywood-themed song and dance numbers but it was the Blue Lion Movers dance group who bagged the evening’s top award.
SYKES also recognized the company’s Volleyball Team as the SYKES Involve Club of the Year. The award honors the contribution of employees to the community.
Perhaps the most poignant and most cheered part of the celebration was the awarding of SYKES’ most loyal employees. The company honored employees who had been working for the company for 10 and 15 years.
“SYKES’ Cebu operations plays a vital role in the overall success of the company in the Philippines,” Sneed said.
“Cebu has always been a center of growth for SYKES. We were the first call center to set up in Cebu and we have always enjoyed tremendous success here, thanks in large part to the hard work and dedication of our Cebuano employees,” he added.
SYKES Cebu is recognized by the Cebu City Government and Cebu City Information Technology and Business Process Management (ICT-BPM) Council as one of the Top 10 IT/BPM companies in Cebu for its contributions to employment generation.
